I think multimedia can be very beneficial in a classroom. It is important to keep learning fun & use the tools that are available to us. I do have a concern though that students and teachers will spend more time on learning technology than the subjects we are trying to teach. I ran into this with a math class here at WIU. All the tests, quizzes, etc were online & I ended up spending more time trying to figure how to use the technology than I did on the subject matter. We dont want a bunch of students who can use all these tools and be techies & have nothing to say :-) just some food for thought

I think that using different types of media in the classroom is very important. I think that students should be able to see events first hand, which many media outlets allow students to do. I think that by actually seeing events, like on youtube or news sites, the students can remember the material learned better than if they just listened to a lecture.

I believe multimedia should be used in the classroom because sometimes students get more out of watching a video instead of reading. They say a picture says a thousand words and i agree, I want my students to be able to see American history such as the World Trade Center going down. Since technology is growing, why shouldn't teaching.
I think that there are some advantages to using multimedia in the classroom. It forces the teachers to keep up on current technology, unlike how my teachers did. When I was in high school, we did not have internet, elmo's , or smartboards. We used old style projectors with the flip up lights. One had the roll of transparency film that the teacher had to clean off after each class. We did not even have dry erase boards. I know that it is difficult for teachers to keep up with everything as technology progresses, but it is good to know what your students are doing and to find new ways to keep them interested in class.

Multi-media in the classroom could be a good idea, but only if the teacher is proficient with it. if the teacher spends too much time time fumbling with things they don't properly understand they will lose the students, but more importantly every minute they waist trying to get something to work is one minute less instruction time, and every teacher will tell you every minute is precious.

Using multimedia in the classroom is an advantage for the student because it meets to different students learning abilities. I think it is a great idea because it will keep the students interested in what they are learning. By presenting material in different fashions, the students will not get stuck in the same old boring routine.
